A private Tornado Advisory is in effect for all of Kentucky. An emphasis on Southwest Kentucky should be strongly noted. Recent models are showing a strong possibility of tornadogenesis. Expect bands of storms, with the potential for damaging winds, brief torrential rain, hail, and possible tornadoes.

Travel Impact: Low (Damaged/blocked roads pose a threat to traffic.)

Precipitation Amounts: Moderate (Heavy Bands Possible)
Tornadic Activity: 6 / 10 (Moderate)

Wind Statement: Wind events will be likely, with isolated occurrences of 70+ mph gusts, and tornadoes may be possible especially in counties closer to West Tennessee and Arkansas.

Travel Impact: Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways. You may not be able to see how deep the water really is, and you or your vehicle could be swept away. Damaged and blocked roads could cause traffic issues and travel hazards.

PVT Wind Chill Advisory #002 (Expires 08:00 EST JAN 31)

29 JAN 2019 – Valid 10PM to 8AM 31 JAN 2019

A private Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the areas shown below. Tonight, winds associated with a deep cold front will cause a sharp decline in temperature, especially in Northern Kentucky. Wind chills could reach as low as -20ºF with isolated areas feeling as low as -25ºF. Most areas  further South can expect wind chills from single digits to -10F. Isolated brief snow showers could occur, and again Wednesday night primarily for portions of Western Kentucky.

Caution should be taken to cover exposed skin if you must be outside in this weather. In some areas, wind chills will be cold enough to cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes.

PVT Wind Chill Advisory #001 (Expires 13:00 EST JAN 25)

25 JAN 2019 – Valid 10PM to 1PM 25 JAN 2019

A private Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the areas shown below. Tonight, northwesterly winds associated with a cold front will cause a sharp decline in temperature, especially in western Kentucky. With winds steadily at 10-12mph and potentially higher in the further Western parts of Kentucky, wind chills could reach as low as -15ºF. Most areas centrally and further East can expect wind chills from single digits to -5F. Scattered dustings of snow are possible across the state in to the morning. This could impact commute in some areas. The area of most concern will be Western Kentucky.

 

Caution should be taken to cover exposed skin if you must be outside in this weather. In some areas, wind chills will be cold enough to cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes.
